Apsaras(es)
   In Vedic myth, one of the celestial nymphs of Swarga, the heaven of Indra. They appear to correspond to the houris of Islam and the peris of the Persians. They were beautiful fairy-like beings, whose charms were ‘the common treasure of the host of heaven’. Associated with them are the Gandharvas, the heavenly choristers. The greatest Apsaras was Rambha.
